Advice to Baruch College

i think a great way for more interaction with professors and students would be through skype.  often times, professors dont answer emails, and it can be frustrating when at home when you need an answer.  skype could be an answer.  it can be used from the comfort of your own home which is great for some people.
another way for teachers to get a good message out instead of using email or blackboard is to use twitter.  many of us have twitter now, and im sure that a lot of us check it more than we do our baruch emails.  perhaps informing us through twitter may be effective.  a cool way to help implement this would be to set up little computers around the school that you can strictly use to sign on to twitter and check for updates.  this could allow more room in the actual computer rooms, because they are always packed with students.

  1. These are good ideas Matt. It really is frustrating when you can't get an answer quickly when you need it. If professors were willing to be more available to their students, then they should definitely start using skype and twitter to communicate with students. Email isn't new media afterall, so they need to use something new and more effective!

  2. Matthew, I really enjoyed this post. I think a twitter for a class is a great idea. If everyone in the class would follow each other and the professor it would be beneficial to all. Reminders on twitter could be helpful. Also, it would be easy to communicate with fellow classmates. I also like the skype idea. I think if a professor would hold his office hours via skype that would be great.
